Initially, stress makes you feel energized, and we often need it to flee from the predators or fight the disease. However, increased stress levels make us feel wired and exhaust the energy levels of our bodies. According to healthcare professionals, chronic stress is a prominent factor behind illnesses like cancer and heart attacks. It seems like we’re tolerating stress while it’s overloading our nervous system and affecting our overall well-being in the long run. Migraines and headaches are some of our physical responses to stressful situations that arise when the muscles are tense. It also impacts the digestive system and how food moves through your body, thereby lowering your appetite to a great extent. Disturbance in the digestive system leads to nausea, pain, vomiting, heartburn, constipation, acid reflux, or diarrhea.

Exercise

Regular work relaxes your body as well as mind. The best part is exercises are an excellent mood booster. The question is, how much workouts should you perform in a day? Health experts advised working out for 2 hours and 30 mins, including brisk walking and 75 mins strengthening exercises like swimming, jogging, and other sports. Make sure that you make small and check them often to avoid losing your focus. Remember performing exercises is better than doing nothing at all.

Deep Breathing

Stop and take deep breaths to get rid of the pressure right away. The steps mentioned below will make you feel better amid such situations:

  1. Sit comfortably with a hands-on lap & foot on the ground. You can also lie down;
  2. Close your eyes;
  3. Think as if you’re sitting on a beach or traveling in mountains that soothes your mind;
  4. Breathe in and out;
  5. Try breathing exercises for almost 5 to 10 minutes.

Have a Balanced Diet

A balanced diet would improve your overall well-being & offers better mood management. Fruits & vegetables with whole grains and lean protein must be included in your diet. Avoid skipping meals as it might put you in a bad mood and surge your stress levels.

Modern life is full of hustle, so just slow down and relax for a while. Look at your life and remember the moments that fill your heart with joy.
